Release of Liability

In consideration of the acceptance of my application to enter this yacht race, I hereby waive, release and discharge any and all claims for damages for death, personal injury or property damage which I may have or which may subsequently accrue to me as a result of my participation in the yacht race. This release is intended to discharge the promoters, sponsors, the promoting clubs, the officials, any involved municipalities and other public entities (including the United States Sailing Association, if applicable) from and against any and all liability arising out of or connected in any way with my participation in the yacht race, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons or entities mentioned above.

I further understand that serious accidents occasionally occur during yacht racing events and that participants in yacht racing occasionally sustain mortal or serious personal injuries and/or property damage as a consequence thereof. I knowingly assume the risks of yacht racing and release and hold harmless all of the persons or entities mentioned above who might otherwise be liable to me or my heirs or assigns for damages.

It is the captains's responsibility to obtain a signed release from each member of his or her crew before the race begins. In the event the captain fails to obtain a release from a crew member, the captain agrees to protect and hold harmless the persons or entities mentioned above from any claims for damages or compensation that they may have to pay arising from injuries to that crew member due to the negligence of the persons or entities mentioned above.
